Start the 7-day Pride Challenge: Write What You Are Proud Of & Start Rocking Goals Every Day

I had a breakdown standing in my driveway the other day. I was furious. I was tired. I was stressed to my limits and my ride-sharing driver was arguing with me over text that he had arrived when clearly he had not.  I was deep in the red fog once I finally took my seat in the hybrid SUV.

The thing is, I wasn’t late, and quite frankly, I could have had a great day. Everything went smoothly after that brief interaction. But, I let those 10-15 minutes shape my day. I was pissed off and on the verge of tears All. Fucking. Day. I sat in this funk, getting more and more disappointed in myself, going down the black hole of what I could have done differently. This opened the questioning ‘what-ifs’, which turned into full-on confidence bashing in a matter of minutes.  That’s when I knew this mood had to change. I had to change.

I wanted to do something different. I wanted to work on feeling accomplished, feeling like I made a difference in my own life, I wanted to feel PROUD of myself. And that’s when it hit me. I need to write down something that I am proud of doing, making, experiencing. So, let me introduce the Pride Challenge!

The Pride Challenge:

For the next 7 days, I will take a moment at the end of the day and write out up to 3 things I am proud of that day.  Simple, right? By the end of the week, there will be up to 21 things on the list that will make me smile, that will start that fire in my chest and help grow my confidence.

The Why:

By putting pen to paper, and writing down items that I’m proud of, I will become more accustom to taking pride in my work and life, without feeling boastful. My day will be focused on rocking my goals (See my thoughts on my 2019 goals here!) so I can be proud of it at the end of the day.

I want to put a caveat here. There is nothing too small to be proud of! One of my goals this year is to develop more healthy habits. So one of the items I may list as something I am proud of, for example, may be that I went for a walk that day. It’s not ground-breaking, it’s not a huge change, but it would be one small step (pardon the pun) towards my ultimate goal of feeling fit again.

I will also be focussing on positive things to be proud of. Instead of writing down that I am proud I didn’t eat junk food, I would write down something like: I’m proud that I made healthy food choices or ate homemade food or I am proud that I premade dinner.

The Check-In!

Over the next 7 days, I will be checking in often to share my growing list of pride, and see how you are doing as well!

Will you be joining me?  Comment below with what you are proud of right now! I’d love to hear how you find starting this challenge.
